RAR seen by.... Roger Paulino
Coleção RAR 2024

The visual flight of the falcon

"RAR seen by…" revolves precisely around this dimension, by looking at a conventionally mundane object - the Annual Report - and reclassifying it through an artist’s gaze.

Roger Paulino has been chosen for this year’s edition. He essentially works with engraving and for several years has maintained a practice that has been relatively neglected in the national context. Engraving imposes technical specificities that he has perfected with rare diligence.

Hawks, elephants, potatoes, vegetables, fields and industrial materials are depicted in the visual narratives behind the prints on display, revealing a compositional broth of dizzying elegance. The prints are always shown in duplicate, with changes in colour and shape, in reference to the process of experimentation and refinement, and in tribute to the modus operandi of the companies in question.

As in his previous projects, Roger Paulino surprises us with his unusual brilliance in building a new iconography, in the universe of RAR. Like all great art, he obliges us to take a fresh look at things we take for granted in the world around us.
